AP Literature B is designed to challenge students to read imaginative literature carefully and to analyze it critically. Through this close reading of plays and novels, students can expand their understanding of the ways writers provide both pleasure and meaning for their readers. As they read, students should recognize a work's structure, themes, and style, as well as elements like figurative language, imagery, symbolism, and tone. Students study vocabulary as they progress through the units, and each unit ends with a test based on the AP open-ended rubric as well as a project.
