In this course, students will learn about the geographic regions of the United States. The course focuses on the five basic geographic themes of location, place, human interaction, movement, and region in each unit of study. In the course, students will learn more about "Citizenship in Action" and how their government works, read about Americans who made a difference to this country, and learn about several citizen heroes. This course will help students develop their research and writing skills, along with their thinking skills. Students will learn to use graphic organizers to practice finding main ideas, summarize information, compare and contrast two or more items, and to discover cause and effect relationships.
